Monthly Insights

Greetings!
Success isn’t about which screen you buy; it’s about how you manage it. This month’s insights put you back in the driver’s seat: hardware backed by hard data, your choice of software, and robust remote management that gives you total oversight without ever needing to send someone on site.
This month, at a glance:
60 out of 60 for the LG UP5Q, and which tier fits your workload
How one of the world’s largest signage networks owns its stack
Your iPad kiosks and your screens, in one console
Your CMS, your choice of screens: Spectrio now runs on signageOS
New in CloudControl: fewer site visits, screens in your IT workflow, problems flagged early, and more hardware

LG UP5Q passes all 60 of our tests, and which LG tier fits your workload
LG’s performance-tier webOS 9.0 UP5Q passed all 60 Test Scenarios in the signageOS Research Center benchmark. The mainstream UH5Q passed 54, including every Full HD video scenario.
The report maps which tier fits which content, from Full HD menu boards to video walls and UHD lobby displays. Screenfeed supplied the test content. We ran the benchmark independently and received no compensation for it.
“Every SoC generation we benchmark closes gaps the previous one couldn’t. […] The question has become how much headroom you want for what’s next.”
Lukas Danek, CPO and co-founder, signageOS
invidis drew on the results in their own analysis of system-on-chip (SoC) displays.

How one of the world’s largest signage networks owns its stack
No single supplier could meet what a network of tens of thousands of screens needed. So the brand built its own experience layer and kept full ownership of it. signageOS runs underneath, across a deliberately mixed Samsung and LG fleet: hardware chosen on merit, not compatibility. In two years, the network grew from about 1,500 screens at 93% uptime to tens of thousands at 99.99%+.

Your iPad kiosks and your screens, in one console
Screens are rarely the only devices on a site. An iPad at the counter takes orders, and one by the entrance checks visitors in. CloudControl now manages those iPad devices alongside your displays, through our own MDM service, which works with Apple Business.
Assign new iPad devices to signageOS in Apple Business and they set themselves up on first start, with no cable. Each one runs the signageOS player or a third-party app, such as an ordering app, and kiosk lock keeps it there, also after a restart. Every device on the site sits in one fleet view.

Your CMS, your choice of screens: Spectrio now runs on signageOS
Spectrio’s dealership customers can now run Spectrio CMS on the screens their showrooms already have, with signageOS as the layer underneath. It’s how we work with every CMS partner: you choose the software, and the hardware stays your call.

New in CloudControl
CloudControl is where you manage and monitor your screens. Four changes worth knowing about:
Fewer site visits → When an LG or Samsung screen dims, sleeps, or doesn’t wake after a power cut, you can now fix it remotely. Solution Hub adds ready-made scripts and alert rules you turn on in one click, no code.
Screens in your IT workflow → A failing screen can open a ticket where your IT team already works, such as ServiceNow.
Problems flagged early → Alerts watch CPU and memory, so a struggling player shows up before anyone has to report it.
More hardware → Cisco Vision players and more LG and ViewSonic displays, across 50+ platforms.
Coming next are an MCP server for AI tools and alert rules that can trigger an action, the base for self-healing and auto recovery.

Meet us at ISE 2027 in Barcelona
We’ll be at ISE 2027 in Barcelona, February 2–5, at Fira Barcelona Gran Via. Come by our stand to see CloudControl run a mixed fleet, or book a time with the team before the show.
On February 1, the evening before the show floor opens, we’re hosting our Digital Signage Mixer again at Terraza Martínez on Montjuïc.
Thanks for reading!
If any of this touches a decision you’re making, get in touch. It reaches me and the team.
