Our CPO’s take on next-gen signage

One of the most important questions in digital signage rarely gets asked out loud: if your software provider disappeared tomorrow, what would actually happen to your network? Lukas Danek, our co-founder and CPO, wrote about exactly that, and his answer reframes the infrastructure decisions operators are making right now.

He covers why hardware and software age at different speeds, what a decade of platform transitions has cost the operators who bet everything on a single vendor, and why standardizing the API layer between your devices and your software changes how much shock your network can absorb. Meet Solution Hub: browse, install, no coding required 🎉

Standing up a new capability used to mean building it yourself or sourcing it from somewhere else. Solution Hub is a new section in signageOS Box where you browse ready-made components and install them into your organization in a few clicks, no code required. Applets like Browser, Video & Images, Stream, and Video Wall. Device utilities like Network Speed Test, System Info, and WiFi Configuration. Background helpers such as Network Watchdog, one-click alert rules, and Content Guard AI templates that flag on-screen content likely to create a compliance problem.

Filter by type, category, or platform and you'll only see what runs on the devices you actually have, across Tizen, webOS, BrightSign, and the rest. Every item lists its description, supported platforms, and version, so nothing you install is a guess. Solution Hub is rolling out gradually, so if it isn't in your sidebar yet, it's on the way.

Velasea + signageOS: hardware that arrives ready 🚀

Velasea, the US-based OEM system builder and hardware aggregator, has launched a dedicated partner page featuring signageOS as a certified platform. Their media players and mini PCs — the ASUS NUC 15 Pro and NUC 16 Pro, Iron Link N150, and Iron Link Pulse — are tested and validated for signageOS, which means the hardware shows up install-ready for our management layer.

It's a pairing our customers will recognize: Velasea makes the hardware dependable, we keep it swappable. Between the two, a large rollout has a lot fewer places to go wrong. The page also runs our brand video and covers the verticals where the combination earns its keep, from QSR and retail to banking, transportation, and healthcare.

New: A home for your RFP or RFI

Scoping a signage project with us used to take a lot of back-and-forth. Now there's a dedicated page for it. Send your requirements, timelines, and constraints, and they go straight to the engineers and solution experts who fit the project, who come back with a straight answer on what we can and can't do.

Single deployment or a mixed fleet spanning dozens of hardware platforms, it's the fastest way to get signageOS onto your shortlist.

New regional network endpoints

We're rolling out regional device gateways to make the platform faster and steadier as networks scale, and all devices now connect through them. If your network and firewall configuration hasn't been updated for the new regional endpoints yet, that's the one to-do item in this issue.

Your admins may well have handled it already. If you're not certain, the full endpoint list is one click away, and our Support team is happy to walk through your environment with you.

Save the date: Digital Signage Mixer, February 1 🇪🇸

Our Mixer started at ISE, moved to Las Vegas for InfoComm, and on February 1 it returns to where it began — the evening before the ISE show floor opens in Barcelona. We’re looking forward to cocktails, wine, finger food, and the people we don't see nearly often enough.
