Product Updates

Greetings,
This issue's product updates, at a glance:
CPU and memory alerts — get alerted when a device runs above the limit you set
Self-recovery in the logs — see when a Tizen device brought its application back on its own
Binary files in applets — write, append and read binary data through sos.fileSystem
New supported devices — Cisco Vision DMPs, ViewSonic CDE14, and three more LG models
Linux Core App 2.8.0 — one install script, full Wayland support, and Node.js on the device
⚠️ Also: an IMPORTANT NOTICE about new regional network endpoints and requirements.

Alerts on CPU and memory usage
We've added two new conditions to device alert rules: CPU usage and Memory usage. You set a limit in percent, and signageOS alerts you when a device reports usage above it. A new condition starts at greater than 90%.
What's new:
Two conditions — CPU usage and Memory usage, each with a limit you set in percent
Latest value per device — the rule compares the most recent value each device reported
Usual schedule — checked every 10 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour, like other alert rules
Why it matters: If you run content that needs steady performance, you no longer have to check CPU and memory telemetry yourself. A device that runs short of either can make content stutter or the application crash, and now you hear about it first.
Availability: For organizations whose plan includes CPU or RAM telemetry.

Know when a device recovered itself
When a Samsung Tizen device brings itself back after its application stopped, it now reports it once the application is running again. The device's System logs show an AutoRecoveryPerformed entry with the time the recovery happened.
Why it matters: If you support a fleet of Tizen screens, you can now tell a device that keeps recovering itself from one that is fine. Before, a recovery only showed up as a gap in the logs.
Availability: Requires the latest Core App.

Binary files in applets
Applets can now write, append and read binary files through sos.fileSystem, including at a specific position in the file.
Why it matters: If you build applets, you can work with binary data directly and change part of a file without rewriting the whole of it.
Availability: Requires the latest Core App on a supported platform.

New supported devices
We've added support for more players and displays:
Cisco Vision DMPs built on BrightSign — CV-HD (HD1023), CV-UHD (XT1143), CV-HD2 (HD1024) and CV-UHD2 (XT1144)
ViewSonic CDE14 series — on Android
LG XE3P, XE4P and UL3Q — on webOS 6.1
Why it matters: If you run or plan to run these devices, they're now recognized and managed like the rest of your fleet.
Availability: Requires the latest Core App for the platform.

Linux Core App 2.8.0: a closer look
Linux Core App 2.8.0 makes Linux devices easier to install, check and extend.
What's new:
One install script — for every supported distribution, newly including Fedora 44 and Ubuntu 26, and on systems set to a language other than English
Wayland — fully supported, including screenshots on GNOME and sway
Health check — a new command, signageos system healthCheck, checks that the signageOS application on a device is in good shape
Node.js on the device — plugins, runners and Custom Scripts run natively in Node.js; Node.js Custom Scripts can call the sos.management API, for example to read the model, firmware or network or to set brightness, and runners pick up configuration changes without a reload
Raspberry Pi — Chromium now supports WebGL, on the Raspberry Pi 5 through Vulkan
Why it matters: If you run Linux devices, they come in many distributions and setups. This release makes them simpler to install and check, and brings them closer to what the other platforms already do.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE ⚠️
New regional network endpoints and requirements
New regional device gateways are being rolled out to improve the platform's performance, reliability, and scalability.
All devices will now connect through these regional gateways. If you haven't already updated your network and firewall configuration to allow the required regional endpoints, please do so as soon as possible to avoid connectivity issues.
If you have any questions or need help preparing your environment, contact the signageOS Support team.
