Product Updates

Greetings,
This issue covers the latest CoreApp releases — the signageOS app that runs on each device — with six changes. Four change what devices report to the platform, and two change how you build and debug applets.
Rolling out over the coming days:
Tizen 2.13.0
webOS 2.12.0
Linux 2.8.0
BrightSign 2.6.0
Windows 3.3.0
Android 4.18.0
Also: an IMPORTANT NOTICE about new regional network endpoints and requirements.
For more updates on the latest features, please check our Changelogs.

Six changes, from compliance to debugging
Device-reported policy compliance — Devices now report whether a policy actually applied, instead of the platform inferring it from telemetry. Violations are reported on the first failed check, not the seventh, and a policy the device can't enforce shows as violated instead of being skipped. If you use policies, compliance now reflects what the device actually did.
System and Core App uptime in the API — Devices now report two values through the API: time since the operating system booted, and time since the Core App last started. If you monitor fleet health, you can tell a player that keeps restarting from one that's simply online, and catch crash loops before a site visit.
Proxy bypass list — Devices behind a proxy now also report the addresses they exclude from it, alongside proxy status and address. If you run devices behind a corporate proxy, support and your network team can check exclusions remotely instead of needing access to the player. BrightSign first; other platforms to follow.
Richer screenshot fingerprints — Devices that capture screenshots for analysis now report aHash, dHash and pHash, all the same length and computed by the same library as the server. Flat, single-color Windows screens and landscape-mounted screens now hash like every other platform. If you compare screens against a reference, this is the groundwork for more accurate matching in Content Guard.
Branded deployment apps in Smart Builder — When you build a deployment app with a bundled applet, you can now set the app icon and title, so it reaches the end user under your name. Available on webOS, Tizen and Android, opt-in per build, for companies with the branded-apps entitlement. Read more
Advanced remote applet debugger — Applets now have an advanced remote debugger with full browser DevTools. The shell frame and every applet iframe appear separately, and sessions start and stop with the Core App and applet lifecycle, so none are left hanging. If you build or support applets, you can debug on real hardware with the tools you already use.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE ⚠️
New regional network endpoints and requirements
New regional device gateways are being rolled out to improve the platform's performance, reliability, and scalability.
All devices will now connect through these regional gateways. If you haven't already updated your network and firewall configuration to allow the required regional endpoints, please do so as soon as possible to avoid connectivity issues.
If you have any questions or need help preparing your environment, contact the signageOS Support team.
